Just a line to say how well the rubber chippings we had from you are working. We have had rain here in the Brecon Beacons continuously since the end of June and for the first two weeks following your delivery could not put it down, I do not need to tell you the mess we were in.
After leveling the small run and putting the chippings in place the difference is astounding, the hen's are much happier and we have a lot less mess in the hen house. This is a superb product and we find the cleaning is easy, no more mud, must say it's the first time I am looking forward to the winter, no mud.
Thank you again and will be looking to extend the project to further runs.

Rubber Chippings Home
The different attributes of rubber and particularly the way it interacts with soil make rubber chippings and crumb the ideal medium for enhancing and reinforcing lawns. This website is designed to bring the benefits reaped by public lawns and sporting pitches into your back garden and lawn. We supply the rubber chippings in the right amount for you, so keeping the cost down for smaller quantities, but if you have a large area to prepare, contact us with the details and we will provide a bulk quote.
Rubber chippings are made from worn tyres which need to be disposed of other than in landfill. The tyres give off toxic smoke if they are burnt, so recycling is the only sensible option. This, plus the fact that once they are down they do not need replacing as they are virtually indestructible, means that they really are a wonderful example of recycling at its best!
The tyres are chopped up mechanically and then the chippings are graded and sold according to size. The largest chunks are usually an average of 25mm in size, down to 1mm crumb which is used as a lawn reinforcer. The reinforcing wire is extracted from the tyres by magnets as they are chopped up.
The chippings are chunks of solid rubber and so do not absorb water. They are also slightly water repellent and it is noticeable that they dry out before anything else after rain. Laid to about 4cms thick the rubber chippings form a cushioned surface which makes play areas, paths and hen pens more comfortable surfaces to walk on than grass, concrete or mud.
The uses of rubber chippings are probably endless and, as we think of more, we will add them to the site.
Just to thank you again for delivering the chippings so promptly, and to say how pleased I am with the difference they've made to the run. It's gone from a rather nasty sticky, messy surface, to a lovely comfy warm, soft, well-drained and easily washable one, which will last for ever I should think, and relieve me from the backbreaking chore of removing nasty wet soiled litter in heavy buckets, not good for an asthmatic!
The 10kg. bags were a good size and shape for carrying and emptying, so the job was quite quick and easy. I'm finding that the hens' feet keep perfectly clean now I have the chippings, so the eggs don't get muddy in the boxes. Also, the drinking water stays cleaner as the chippings don't blow into it as lighter bedding tends to do. I've just invented a 'climbing frame' for the hens, consisting of a platform made from an old shed door supported about 4ft off the ground on some old scaffolding posts, with an old ladder liberated from a local builder's rubbish heap for them to climb up, before paragliding down - very exciting exercise, and a soft landing for them on the rubber.
